All the children were born in Stow cum Quy. 1901 census...Aged 19, a dock labourer, he was a boarder with Francis JENNINGS and his family at 14 Foster Road, Ramsey, Essex.His parents were in High Street, Stow cum Quy with his brothers James, Francis, Henry [8] and Frederick [6]; sister Sarah In 1906 he married Sarah Nornington SMITH (Cambridge Q4-1906 3B:1022) 1911 census...Aged 29, a domestic gardener, he was at 36 Paradise Street, Cambridge with his wife Sarah Nornington 4-5-1878] [32] born Cambridge; their son William Harry Doughty [14-10-1907]; daughters Lilian Emily Sarah [12-5-1909] and Dorothy Hannah [28-10-1910]. The three children were born in Cambridge. |

The Battalion War Diary is not much help as without his Army service records there is no way of saying exactly when or where he was wounded. The battalion had not been involved in any heavy fight in October, mostly in camp, training.
